SEMC Charge  

The Sustainability and Environmental Management Committee (SEMC) serves as an advisory committee to the Assistant Vice President for Environmental Health & Safety (the President’s designee).

The SEMC is responsible for drafting and reviewing environmental policies and programs, and making recommendations to enhance compliance, prevent pollution, promote education, foster environmental stewardship, and advance sustainability efforts.

Environmental Policy

At Texas A&M University, we are dedicated to implementing sustainable practices that safeguard our natural resources, prioritize the health and safety of our community, uphold accountability for their use, and promote environmental awareness and proactive action.

To minimize our environmental impact, we are committed to:

  • Reducing waste generation and promoting reuse and recycling initiatives.
  • Encouraging the procurement of renewable, reusable, recyclable, and recycled materials.
  • Mitigating risks related to the storage and disposal of hazardous substances.
  • Supporting sustainability education and outreach efforts.
  • Providing a platform for open dialogue on environmental issues, while establishing and periodically reviewing relevant objectives and targets.
